We send you a Ticker device, which is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, by Royal Mail. It usually takes a couple of days to reach you, then you fit the device yourself.
There's no waiting around for engineers to arrive, no one fiddling around under your dashboard, and if you change your vehicle, you can move your Ticker device yourself.
Depending on your vehicle’s compatibility, you’ll either get a stick-on Ticker device or a plug-in Ticker device.
The plug-in Ticker device
The plug-in Ticker device is an Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) device. We post it to you and you plug it into your vehicle's OBD port – usually under your steering wheel or near the driver's seat. Installation only takes a few seconds. Your OBD port may be behind a removable panel; we include a QR code with your device so you can scan it to find your port. If you can't find the code, check ticker.co.uk/check-device instead. It draws minimal power from your vehicle and sends us data directly. If the OBD location is inconvenient, please start a chat and we'll look into it for you.
When you leave Ticker, you can unplug the device.

The stick-on Ticker device
It's a small, round box that fits in the palm of your hand. Inside, there's an accelerometer, GPS and a battery designed to last for at least your policy year.
Download the Ticker app, stick the device to the inside of your windscreen and pair it with the app.

The best place to stick your device is in one of the corners of your windscreen or behind your rear-view mirror. The most important thing is that it's not in your line of sight.
Once paired, the device collects data and sends it to us via your app. This will have a minimal effect on your data plan.
When you leave Ticker, you can take the box off your windscreen.
