If you're planning on changing your vehicle, go to the Ticker app for a new quote and we'll update your documents in the app. You can move your Ticker device yourself.

Your Ticker device

  • If you’ve got a stick-on Ticker device, we'll send you a new adhesive ring to make sure it sticks well

  • Take your stick-on Ticker device off your old windscreen, or unplug your plug-in Ticker device

  • Stick your Ticker device to your new windscreen with the new adhesive ring, or plug your Ticker device into your new vehicle – we’ll send you instructions on where it will go in your new car

You don't have to go through setting up the device again; just check the app is updating as normal.

What if I don’t have an adhesive ring for the stick-on device?

If you're missing the adhesive ring, keep your device in a stable place in your car, like the cupholder, until we send one.

Will I always get a new device when I change vehicles?

No - you can usually reuse your old device unless it is incompatible with your new vehicle, damaged or needs replacing at renewal.

Do I have to set up the device immediately?

Yes. It's a condition of your insurance policy that you plug in or pair with your device as soon as it arrives.

Your vehicle on the Motor Insurance Database

The Motor Insurance Database is where every insured vehicle appears. Police use it when they scan reg numbers, to check if a vehicle has insurance.

If you're asked about your insurance by police

Up until the time you've chosen to switch your vehicle on the policy, your old vehicle is still insured. However, the Motor Insurance Database will already show your new vehicle.

Your insurance documents in the Ticker app will show that you're insured on your old vehicle until your chosen time to switch. The police will understand the situation, but can start a chat with us at ticker.co.uk if they need further information.
