Can I insure a Cat N or Cat S vehicle?

Written by Ticker

In the motor industry, cars are given categories to describe their condition. Garages are allowed to sell vehicles with specific problems or history, as long as they're disclosed to the buyer.

Do we cover Cat N cars?

A CAT N car is a vehicle that's been 'written off' (deemed not worth repairing from a financial standpoint) by a UK insurer. The damage is non-structural, which means the frame or chassis are undamaged.

We cover Cat N cars, as long as they're roadworthy.

Do we cover Cat S cars?

On the other hand, a Cat S car has been written off with structural damage. This may have been deemed repairable by a professional, but it's not a category we cover.

We don't cover Cat S cars.
