Why might my car insurance renewal be declined, and what can I do next?
Reasons your renewal might be declined
1. Changes in our rules about what we'll insure
Insurers review and update their rules about what they'll insure quite often.
A policy that fit our guidelines in the past may no longer meet our updated rules, for example if you drive a car we no longer want to insure because of its increased involvement in theft claims.
2. Things that happened during your policy
If you missed payments or drove dangerously, we might decline your renewal.
3. Changes to how we conduct business
Very rarely, business changes might mean we're no longer a good fit for you.
What to do if your renewal is declined
Download any policy documents you need - you can download or email your current policy documents and proof of your No Claims Discount from the app while your policy is still active. We'll also email any proof of NCD to you when your policy ends just in case.
Look for your next insurer: having your renewal declined is not considered a cancellation, so you don't need to declare it to future insurers.
Remember: you won't be insured when your policy ends with us, so you must arrange alternative cover.
