How does Ticker use my device data?

Your Ticker device collects data on things like speed, acceleration, braking, cornering, time of day and location. This helps us build up a picture of your driving style.

We use the data collected by the device to:

  1. Verify the insurance details you gave us

  2. Work out how you drive and give you feedback

  3. Calculate your renewal quote

  4. Ask seriously risky drivers to leave

These things help us reduce fraud (a major issue in the insurance industry), which makes insurance cheaper for everyone with Ticker.

At renewal, we'll take your driving into account to give you our best price first time - no haggling required.

How your driving feedback works

Your device sends us driving data and we analyse it to give you feedback in the app. This includes speed, smoothness (like braking and accelerating) and time of day.

Your feedback reflects patterns in your driving, so your feedback each week is an overall view of your driving style.

We're only concerned with single incidents when they're dangerous - and we could ask you to leave us if it's serious.

What we won't do with your device data

  1. We won't share the data from your device unless we get a court order from the police

  2. We won't 'fine' you for your driving or increase your insurance price mid-policy
